Holy Crap! USC Says Hello to Kiffy????
Scuttle all over the internet tubes tells us that USC is going to hire Lane Kiffin. To be their FOOTBALL COACH!!!!
Just yesterday I was reading on the Gator Country forums a series of posts mocking the Vol Nation for posting their worries about their new coach getting stolen back by the Trojans, as if USC would be happy to get a guy who led a 7-6 team and got his program into all kinds of hot water!
Well, so much for the USC dynasty. But what about the hatred stirred up in Saban, Miles, Meyer, and Spurrier? Only one year of satisfaction? Weak. And it’s not like they’ll get to play his team in any BCS bowls, either.
And now Tennessee fans: wish you had Phat Phil back around now? Wide receivers coach Kippy Brown as interim isn’t going to make many recruits excited!

Just saw this on ESPN. Weak! Can’t believe he’d come into the SEC, piss all over the place and then run off before he can get more than one year’s worth of beatdown. I personally don’t see why USC would be so ecstatic over getting him. I mean, what has he done exactly as a college coach? Maybe USC will finally stop being a media darling now.

Right–and what has he done as any kind of head coach? He had a losing record with the Raiders, and he was 7-6 at Tennessee, with his biggest success probably being his boasting over his snagging of a UF commit who’s subsequently been thrown off the team for attempted robbery.
The more it sinks in (I’m just sitting here watching the UF b-ball game, and they’re talking about it a lot), the more shocked I really am. What is this guy’s appeal, exactly? His coaching cred comes from one year as USC’s OC at a time when they had a full pantry of five-stars and Pete Carroll in charge.
All I know is that I’m terribly disappointed I won’t get to watch the Gators play that guy every year. But my love for Oregon just increased!

The scuttle is that they’d have Phil back as AD. He’s a true Vol (player and coach there), and players and fans will trust him. And trust is going to be a big factor in them moving forward.
According to their message board (reading volnation.com lately has been fun!), a large segment of their internet-posting fans want their current AD’s head on a platter for bringing in Kiffin in the first place.

Word out of Knoxville is that Louisiana Tech coach Derek Dooley will be elevated to the Tennessee head job as their fifth choice, assuming interim coach Kippy Brown does not have the interview of his life.
